Schoolboy Q tries takes a look at Kanye's (RIP) Life of Pablo and Sicko Mode in his sixth album and decides to outdo both.  Songs shift views, perspective and most often beats underneath Schoolboy in prime fighting mode.  Which is a surprise, a few years ago after the career high of exorcising demons in Blank Face he was in suburban dad and golfer mode which resulted in the perfectly fine but safe Crash. In promo interviews Q states he made Blue Lips the album he wanted to hear and wanted to challenge his audience.  The result is a relentlessly banger free album that in itself is a banger.  High points: “First” where an aggressive sample chorus slides right into a menacing trap beat, and fights even harder to serve as the hook for the Tame Impala-esque second half.
